CHIRAYINKEEZH: A parallel college teacher, who fell into the river from the train, is missing. He has been identified as Unnikrishnan (40) of Chirayinkeezh. The incident happened last night in between Kottayam and Ernakulam near Piravom Road Station. The incident happened while he was proceeding to Ernakulam in Malabar Express to attend an interview. He is suspected to have fallen into the river accidentally. Other passengers informed the railway police after the train reached Moovattupuzha.
Unnikrishnan was a passenger of the reservation coach. The other passengers pulled the chain after seeing him falling. The police from Thalayolapparambu and Velloor stations and fire force from Kaduthuruthy have started search operations. Expert divers too have intensified search.
Unnikrishnan, who was a teacher in Mali, reached the state after B.Ed was made compulsory there. He was working as an English teacher in Maharajas College in Chirayinkeezh.
He had planned to stay in his friend’s house in Kochi and then attend the interview this morning. When the train reached Kayamkulam, he called his friend and informed him about his visit. As he did not turn up, his friend contacted his relatives.
His relatives and friends from Chirayinkeezh left for Piravom last night itself. He is the son of late Krishnan Chettiar and Vijayamma. Nisha (Sandhya) is his wife and has two children.
