Three of Areekode family killed in Saudi road crash

MALAPPURAM: Three members of a family from Areekode in the district were killed in a road crash near Madina in Saudi Arabia. The victims were identified as Mumtaz, 45, son Shadil, 29, and his three-year-old daughter Irin. Mumtaz is the wife of business man N V Karim. Shadil’s wife Rishna was injured. The accident occurred when the car in which the family was travelling overturned at Rabigh on the highway from Madina to Makkah. It was two weeks ago that Kareem and family arrived at Makkah, where Shadil and family were living. Shadil was a software engineer engaged in Haram expansion works being carried out by Binladin group of companies. The car overturned when Shadil lost control of the car as he tried to avert a collision. The bodies of the dead have been kept at Khulais General Hospital, Jeddah.
