Free one-day meal for the poor

Marking the sixth anniversary of its formation, Theruvoram has started a weekly one-day meal programme for the poor in Kochi. As part of the programme, free food is distributed to the poor children and the aged every Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm at the Ernakulam Town station, Ernakulam Junction Station, KSRTC bus stations, Kaloor bus stand etc. As part of this, at least 100 meal packets will be distributed.

According to Theruvoram general secretary Murugan S, school children who are interested in contributing food packets from their houses for the homeless can also rope in if interested. “Such an initiative will also help in spreading the ‘Don’t Waste Food’ message among children. We plan to increase the number of food packets based on the demand in the coming days,” he said.

Murugan is being supported by Santhosh, a Port Trust employee and Paulin Jose, a social worker.
