Govt will ensure admissions to all Plus Two aspirants: Chandy
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Wednesday said that government will ensure admissions to all applicants for the plus two courses in the State.
Chandy told the media that cabinet has decided to extend the last date for finalising admissions through centralised allotment to 3 pm on Thursday. Those who fail to get admissions would be accommodated in government higher secondary schools by the end of this month.
He said government had increased seats in existing batches by 20 per cent in government as well as private schools. Subsequently, ten more seats per batch were permitted in private schools.
After the deadline is over on Thursday, principals of the schools would be free to fill vacant seats locally, giving preference to students who had studied in the same school. Additional batches would be created in government schools, if required, for giving admissions to the remaining students. They would be given admissions in their own districts, and as far as possible in their own taluks.
An appropriate decision would be taken on Vizhinjam project after studying the report of the panel headed by chief secretary. He also said that the government has asked the Public Service Commission (PSC) to specify that applicants need not hold the certificate at the time of application but need to produce it only at the time of scrutiny.
