‘Rupee’ value goes up, ‘Beautiful’ dumped at State film awards


A bunch of films with innovative themes portraying the aspiration of the new generation hogged the lion’s share of the state film awards 2011 which were announced on Thursday.


The awards were announced here by minister K B Ganesh Kumar.  ‘Beautiful’, that won much critical acclaim and commercial success alike, received the cold-shoulder while Santosh Sivan’s ‘Urumi’, won just one award for the best background score.


K Bhagyaraj, B Ajayan, B Arundhati, K R Meera, C R Chandran, T K Lawrence, Aryadan Sahukat and K Manoj Kumar comprised the jury.


The books award jury consisted of George Onakkoor, Sibi Kattamballi, T Anitha Kumari and K Manoj Kumar.
