Ramadan fast in Kerala from today

MALAPPURAM: Muslims in Kerala will start their month-long fast and prayers from today (Saturday 21) with Imams announcing the sighting of the new moon marking the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan Friday evening. The beginning of Ramadan was declared by Panakkad Syid Hyderali Thangal, spiritual leader of Muslims in the Malabar region of the state. The 'imams' (religious scholars) in other parts of the state also declared sighting of the new moon.
