Intense tug war in Kerala Congress (M) over Chairman position

KOTTAYAM: The district presidents of the Mani group within the Kerala Congress (M) have approached the party Deputy Chairman C.F. Thomas with a bid on making Jose K. Mani the Chairman of the party. The leaders claim that the Chairman and Parliamentary Leader position belongs to the Mani group. C.F. Thomas, however, has advised the leaders to take a decision through mutual agreement.

There is a strong tug war within the party over leadership. The Mani group is adamant in making the Vice-Chairman, Jose K. Mani, the leader of the party. Those behind the working Chairman P.J. Joseph is not ready to recognize Jose K. Mani as the Chairman. Of the 14 district presidents of the party, 10 are from the Mani group.
