Assembly pays tributes to K M Mani

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The assembly session began paying tributes to K M Mani, who died on April 9. Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan said it is impossible to break the record win of Mani. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said Mani was an unparalleled leader. Mani was a leader who led Kerala politics into his path, said opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala.

P J Joseph was seen sitting in K M Mani’s seat. Meantime, the feud in the party has intensified after the seat was given to deputy leader P J Joseph. The Joseph faction had given a letter to the speaker demanding the seat and at the same time the Mani faction too had requested not to give that seat to Joseph faction.

Mani’s son Jose K Mani is firm in his stand that the party should first pick the chairman and then the parliamentary party leader. Meantime, P J Joseph said that Mani had stated that the chairman should be a senior leader and that he was the working chairman. However the speaker had sent a letter to Kerala Congress asking them to select the leader of the legislative party by June 9.
