Chairman should be decided through consensus, says Joseph

KOTTAYAM: At a time when feud in the Kerala Congress (M) is intensifying, P J Joseph told reporters that they have not submitted a letter to the election commission demanding to select the new K C (M) chairman through votes. He said that he is not aware whether a letter was given on temporary chairman and if it is given then it is only a natural process.

Those asserting that a new chairman should be chosen convening the state committee doesn’t know what constitution is. They are trying to break the party. Some are creating problems in the name of a letter, he said.

Kerala Congress vice chairman Jose K Mani said that some with vested interests are trying to destroy the party. Will not allow to break the party floated by K M Mani. Will take the party forward unitedly. The chairman should be selected through a democratic process by convening the state committee of the party. Some centres are circulating fake news. Those who gave the letter are not disclosing it, Jose told reporters in Pala.

Meantime, the factional war in the KC (M) has spilled onto the streets. Youth front activists burnt the effigy of Joy Abraham for trying to grab the party. With the support of Abraham, Joseph is in complete control of things and also has the support of three legislators.

C F Thomas, the senior leader of the party is trying to bring unity in the party. Thomas is of the stand that there is nothing wrong in giving the chairman post to Joseph, who was the working chairman of the party. Joy Abraham is also of the same stand.
