Vigilance report states serious irregularities in Palarivattom bridge construction

KOCHI: In the primary investigation report by the Vigilance Department, serious irregularities in the Palarivattom Bridge is stated. Vigilance officer says that serious irregularities were committed in the construction. The department has recommended a probe in the incident.

In the report, Vigilance advised registering cases against the contractors and the officers involved in the construction. The Vigilance director will decide whether a probe has to be initiated.

In an examination conducted by an IIT team, it was found that enough cement and bars were not used in the construction. Reconstruction or any further works cannot be done without the consent of the IIT team. There is no assurance on the reopening of the bridge on June 1 either.
