PUNALUR: Punalur police have secured three day’s custody of Kilimanoor native Vidhya (26), who is in remand in the case in which she allegedly swindled crores of rupees from people after offering them jobs in Railways. The custody was secured for further investigation into the money fraud case.
She will be taken to Karavaloor, Thiruvananthapuram, Paravur and other areas for collecting evidence.
The fraud came to light after Punalur Karavalor native Muraleedharn’s son lodged a complaint with the police, alleging that Vidhya had taken Rs 14.5 lakh from him after offering a job in the Railway.
On the basis of the complaint, she was taken into custody from Kottiyam last week.
Following this, her aides and Peringamala natives Rohit (29) and Rahul (30) were also arrested.
In the following investigation, Vidhya’s account was found to have a deposit of Rs 2.5 crore. The police thereafter collected more details about Vidhya.
Police now believe that more people including retired railway officials are involved in the fraud.
