THIRUVANNATHAPURAM: Forward Community Corporation Chairman and Kerala Congress (B) chief R Balakrishna Pillai has said Sabarimala issue was the reason for the big defeat of the LDF in the Lok Sabha election, 2019.
“The government mishandled the Sabarimala issue and it cannot be resolved without protecting the beliefs of the devotees,” he said in an interview recently given to a private channel. .
Pillai said, in Sabarimala case, the stand taken by the NSS was right. Its stand was the one that protected beliefs. No government can change the beliefs and sentiments of believers, whatever coercion it uses against them.
During the recent elections, Sabarimala issue also strongly influenced people from other religions. Minority communities have lost faith in the government, which turned out to be a big setback for it in the election,” Balakrishna Pillai said.
However, Pillai had backed the government in Sabarimala issue, before the election.
