CPM should change, shun violence, or else will have West Bengal fate: Muraleedharan

NEW DELHI: Union minister V Muraleedharan has opined that the CPM should end the style of settling score with its opponents by taking the path of violence.
“If it doesn’t change from its current style of functioning, its fate will be similar to that in West Bengal and Tripura. In Vadakara, CPM men even tried to kill their rival candidate,” he told Kerala Kaumudi soon after his swearing-in ceremony.

Muraleedharan said though he is the Union minister, he would work for the development of Kerala. For this he would cooperate with the State government. “Central projects will be conceived and implemented in Kerala so as to benefit the State after arriving at a consensus with other parties.”
Referring to the absence of Kerala CM in the swearing-in ceremony of the prime minister, Muraleedharan said it may be part of their politics. Our political culture is to invite non-BJP chief ministers.
Muraleedharan said the party would examine why Modi wave didn’t hit Kerala. “If the party has failed to bring the benefits of Modi government’s achievements to Kerala, it will be examined. Sabarimala issue had helped us garner more votes but that was not enough for victory,” he said.

The new minister added that the misunderstanding in the case of National Highway development was resolved under the leadership of Alphons Kannanthanam, MP.
