KOCHI: A major conspiracy was hatched against Cardinal Mar George Alancherry, said the police. Police said a false document was concocted against Alancherry as part of it and many including priests have a role in it. It came to light after Adithyan, a native of Konduruthy in Ernakulam, was taken into custody.
Adithyan told police that it was Father Kallookaran who asked him to concoct the false document. He also told police that the document was directly forwarded to Father Paul Thelakad so that the name of priests will not be involved in the incident.
Police said there was a move from a section of the Sabha to trap Cardinal using Adithyan. With this, more priests will be questioned and if found guilty action will be taken against the accused.
Adithyan was taken into custody in connection with the land scam of Syro Malabar church. However, in the first phase of interrogation, he told that what he obtained was not a false document. But when he was questioned later the investigating team found that the false document was prepared in his computer. The police has seized the computer. The police after recording the arrest of Adithyan Sunday morning, produced him before the magistrate and was remanded.
