ASI suspended for 'buying ganja to use it as evidence against ganja peddlers' | Published on Wed

KOTTAYAM: An ASI who took an extra mile to show his sincerity in his duty by reporting maximum possible ganja cases, ended up getting a suspension. The big blunder he did for this was he spent money from his pocket and bought ganja. He then tried to forge evidence against the arrested persons by showing the costly ganja he had bought.
The cop’s main aim was to show his superiors in department it was he who had registered maximum number of ganja cases. For this purpose he bought 6.5 kg ganja from Tamil Nadu. Following the instruction of the DGP that hunt against narcotics should be intensified, anti-narcotic cell activities were given a boost in Kottayam district also.
Soon after the incident came to light, the cop was first transferred to police station in a high range
Meanwhile, there is also allegation that police buy ganja in big quantities and store it in police station so as to use it as substantial evidence against ganja peddlers. It is said that they do this in order to avoid persons caught with small quantity of ganja from getting bail easily
