Infopark CEO appointment; VS downplays charges

Friday, October 07, 2011: Opposition leader and CPM stalwart VS Achuthanandan termed as baseless the allegations raised by Government Chief Whip PC George that he had intervened in the appointment of Jijo Joseph as the CEO of the Info Park in Kochi. Jijo Joseph is the relative of former MP Sebastian Paul.
Speaking to the reporters here on Friday, CPM leader opined that the government could conduct an investigation into the allegation raised by George.

George alleged the appointment of Jijo Joseph as the CEO was unlawful and a Vigilance probe should be conducted into the role of Achuthanandan in it.
George alleged Achutanandan had committed breach of oath of office by making “unlawful interventions” in the appointment of Jijo Joseph as Infopark CEO because he was a close relative of Sebastin Paul, a former LDF-supported independent MP and media critic.
The CEO was appointed on February 10 this year in violation of all rules, including the decision of the selection committee, he charged, demanding a vigilance probe.
CEO Joseph said he was prepared to face any probe. He said he had worked with Infosys in the US for 12 years. Paul said he had nothing to do with the appointment and dismissed George’s allegations as baseless.
