225 held for drunken driving

KOCHI: The Kochi City Police arrested 96 persons against whom warrants were pending. Action was also initiated against 934 people, including against 225 for drunk driving. Eighty four people were arrested for causing public nuisance and 57 for drinking liquor in public places. Shadow Police arrested an autorickshaw driver from Arakkakadavu in Vennala on charge of selling beedis stuffed with marijuana. Police have identified him as Joy (51). He was held based on a tip-off while peddling drugs to people at a discotheque on SA Road. Apart from marijuana beedis, the police seized Rs. 3,260 from his autorickshaw.  The Shadow Police raided a bridge near Kothad on Sunday and seized two lorries and 12 loads of sand.
