Orphanage secretary held on charge of assaulting girls

KANNUR: The police arrested a secretary of Yatheemkhana ( an orphanage) at Peralassery under Chakkarakkal police limits for allegedly sexually assaulting seven girls below the age of 15 years continuously for the last few days. According to Kannur DySP P Sukumaran, after receiving complaints from some orphanage inmates police arrested Ahamed Kutty A P (42) of Poomangalam near Thaliparamaba. Ahamed was secretary of the orphanage for the last 20 years.

As many as 65 students, including girls, were residing in the orphanage. Seven girl students contacted Chakkarakkal police and lodged a complaint that the secretary was sexually assaulting them. Later, police team led by City Circle Inspector Rathnakaran took the statements of the girls before the child line activists and conducted medical examination. Ahamed Kutty has married twice. His second wife is the mother of three children who stay in the orphanage. The interrogation was going on, police said, adding Ahamed would be produced before the Kannur JFCM.
