‘Raise voice against high court suggestion to ban toddy’
Madya Vyavasya Thozhilali Federation state president K M Sudhakaran urged the political parties in the state and the SNDP yogam to come out with their opinion on the Kerala High Court’s suggestion to ban the sale of toddy in the state. “The suggestion, if implemented, will sound the death knell of one of the traditional industries of the state pushing thousands of families into poverty,” Sudhakaran said while inaugurating the family welfare fund of the Videsha Madya Vyavasya Thozhilali Union here on Friday.
“The toddy workers have played a major role in the development and renaissance of the state. Even the Udaybhanu Commission had pointed out that the toddy industry had played a vital role in preventing the illicit liquor and tragedies,” he said.
