Rs 250 cr central grant for Malabar tourism development
KOZHIKODE: The Centre has allocated Rs 250 crore for tourism development in Malabar region in Kerala, Tourism Minister A P Anil Kumar said. Inaugurating a seminar on Tourism and Sustainable Energy organised by the Kozhikode District Tourism Promotion Council on World Tourism Day, he said a master plan had been prepared for tourism development in Wayanad and Kasargod districts in the first phase. The work was being coordinated by an agency, the Northern Tourism Circuit, he said, adding expenditure for the entire project would be borne by the Centre. He said efforts would be made to involve common men while taking up projects relating to tourism development in the state, he said. The government, which emphasized on the growth of tourism and agriculture sectors, would not compromise on environmental protection, he added.
