THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government’s argument on the transfer of registry (pokkuvaravu) of land for the Aranmula airport has proved untrue. Documents exposed claim the transfer of registry was performed during the tenure of the Oommen Chandy Government. As per the documents, the transfer of registry took place after February 17, 2012.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told reporters the other day that the transfer of registry was executed by the previous LDF Government and further steps were taken by this government.
The Pathanamthitta district collector ordered for the registry on November 18, 2011. The next year in February, the collector sent a letter to the chief secretary on it. The collector in the letter had stated that the registry was not implemented till February 17 in 2012.
In the meanwhile, the collector cancelled the permission given for the pokkuvaravu and released a further order. The KGS group approached the high court against collector’s order. The case is still under the consideration of the court.
Meantime, senior congress leader V M Sudheeran harshly criticised the government on the issue. The leader asked the government to re-examine it.
Things are moving in such a way badly affecting the credibility of the government. These controversies will affect other developmental projects, warned Sudheeran.
