KOCHI: A division bench of Kerala High court on Thursday upheld a high court single bench order for inquiry into Kalamasseri land grabbing case, which involved former gunman of the chief minister, Salim Raj.
The bench dismissed the plea made by Salim Raj’s relatives to cancel the inquiry. It also strongly criticised land revenue commissioner T O Sooraj. The court observed that Salim Raj had manipulated the ‘tandaperu’ of the land documents, misusing his official power.
“Revenue officers should not be party to land mafia’s misdemeanour. The role they played in the land fraud should be brought to the light,” the bench said.
“Let the civil court decide on the ownership of the land,” the bench suggested while it dismissed a request made in the petition that a Revenue Principle Secretary’s report on land fraud be rejected.
