KOCHI: The Kerala High Court asked to register case against Dr Unmesh, forensic expert in connection with the postmortem report of Soumya, who was killed and raped during a train journey in Thrissur.
A division bench of Justices T R Ramachandran Nair and B Kemal Pasha said lower court’s order on this is legally valid.
Dr Unmesh was suspended from service pending department level enquiry into his conduct and testimony in the Soumya murder case.
The court reviewed that Dr Unmesh tried to mislead the case by leveling unnecessary facts even though his testimony were not against the real facts of the postmortem report.
He made the statement against Dr Shirley Vasu, who led the postmortem, due to ego problems. But his action weakened the evidence and favoured the accused. So, the statement of the lower court cannot be removed, the court said.
