NEW DELHI: The long suspense over KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala’s entry into Oommen Chandy government’s ministry may end soon. The Congress high command, it is speculated, has asked the government to give home ministry to Chennithala and make G Karthikeyan the KPCC president.
The decision at high level comes in the wake of Lok Sabha election and Cabinet meeting, it is said. However, if these speculations turn right, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan will lose the home ministers’s post.
Earlier, on several occasions, discussions had centred on Ramesh’s elevation as a minister, but nothing tangible happened as there was no consensus within the party in this regard.
Later, Ramesh himself expressed his unwillingness to become a minister. The present step reportedly follows specific instructions from Congress central leadership.
