Kiss of Love protest fails to take off in Alappuzha

ALAPPUZHA: The Kiss of Love protest against moral policing and fascism on Sunday was marred by police in the district. 41 persons including Shine and Reshmi, two of the organisers of the strike, were arrested and shifted to the Ambalappuzha Police Station. Though hundreds turned up to partake in the protest, only 20 moved forward.

The police were camping at the premises of the  Alappuzha Beach  where the kiss of love protest was to take place.  A large contingent of police led by SP Balachandran was there following intelligence reports that terrorist organizations would penetrate to the place.

When the protestors shouted slogans against fascism and moral policing, Hindu organisations reached the spot against the strike. A minor scuffle was witnessed between the two. The police intervened and shifted the protestors from the site. Only the protestors were allowed to gain entry.
