KOCHI: The EKTA Short Film Festival, the upcoming short film festival scheduled to take place in Kozhikode this week from May 15th to May 17th, announced the availability of their Android app to enable users to access all festival information through their mobile phones. The app has been designed and developed by Muzik 247, the prominent music label in the Malayalam film industry.
Organized by Emerging Kerala Talent Association (EKTA), the film festival will be screening a variety of short films from around the globe for judgement at Calicut Gujarati School.
Selected short films will be rewarded in over 25 different categories including the best director, camera man, editor, music, actor, actress, etc. The best short film will be presented a cash prize of Rs One lakh with trophy and certificate. The organizers had received more than 200 short film entries for film festival from which 145 films have been chosen for screening after a preliminary assessment. The judgement of films and crew will be done by a jury committee involving experts from the film industry. The winners will be awarded on the last day of the festival at the award ceremony which will see participation of celebrities and cultural programmes.
The chief patron of EKTA Short Film Festival is MT Vasudevan Nair - the renowned author, screenplay writer and film director. The writer and director, Ranjith Balakrishnan and Film producer, PV Gangadharan are also involved with this festival as patrons. Minister for Panchayath and Social Justice M K Muneer is the chief advisor. Sanjeev Sivan, the film maker is the festival director. EKTA Short Film Festival is headed by eminent personalities from the film fraternity such as Rasool Pookutty, Santhosh Sivan, Joy Mathew and Anjali Menon. EKTA will be honouring veteran cinematographer Vipin Mohan for completing 100 outstanding movies and legendary musician M B Sreenivasan at the film festival.
The android app of EKTA will contain complete information about the film festival, including the schedule of - screening of short films, seminars & open forum discussions lead by film personalities and glittering stage shows. Post the event, the app will also feature select short films from the festival that users will be able to watch and enjoy.
