KALPATTA: Mananthavadi DySP A R Premkumar has reached Coimbatore to get the custody of arrested Maoist leader Rupesh and his team. An application in this regard will be filed today in Coimbatore Second Class Magistrate court.
Most number of Maoist cases have been registered in Wayanad, a reason why District Police chief Ajitha Begum has sent Manathavadi DySP to Coimbatore.
Premkumar left for Coimbatore on Wednesday. Once the custody of ‘Maoists’ is obtained, they will be brought to Mananthavadi court. Most Maoists-related cases in North Wayanad are against Rupesh and his gang. In Wayanad, he is an accused in about twelve cases and out of that he is the main accused in six cases.
He has been charged for allegedly distributing pamphlets with anti-nationals contents, attacking resort and police officer’s house and perpetrating terrorism in Adivasi colonies. Though police have arrested Rupesh, others in his group are still hiding in the Wayanad forest. Yesterday also police conducted search in the forest.
