THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM Politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan has said CPM doesn’t have any fanciful thought about Muslim League, which is the main ally of the UDF.
“The CPM has already made an assessment of the Muslim League. We are strongly opposing the UDF. We are facing the combined strength of BJP and the UDF which is supporting the former. Though the Congress is leading the UDF, the Front doesn’t have an existence without the backing of Muslim League and Kerala Congress,” he said.
Pinarayi was answering to media questions at an election related programme in Kesari hall on Monday.
Pinarayi said it was not the right time then to discuss whether the League was a communal party or not. “What is the biggest problem is the communalism being facilitated by the RSS, a reason why they need to be opposed. Certain campaigns are going on to move things according to RSS agenda. The Left’s stand has been to line up anti-communal forces against the RSS threat.”
“The Left doesn’t have a soft stand against any communal force. The best and strong case of minority communalism is SDPI. The RSS which has no connection with Hindu religion or Indian culture has now sided with Vellapally Natesan with the aim of gaining foothold in Kerala. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy is also helping the party. Chandy also has temporary wish that he should get a few seats even if RSS opens the account,” Pinarayi said.
