KOTTYAM: NSS General Secretary G Sukumaran Nair has said that he was not game for broad Hindu unity. He said he didn’t agree with the argument that Hindu unity was necessary for protecting the interests of Hindus. He was speaking after inaugurating the statue of Nair community leader Mannathu Padmanabhan.
“Some people say the NSS is against board Hindu Unity. But they are saying that due to their self-centred interests. The NSS has always stood for Hindu unity and that stand will continue. As always, NSS will stand for social justice and communal harmony,”
Reiterating his stand that the NSS will maintain equal distance with all parties, Nair said the organisation doesn’t have affinity towards any particular party. “The NSS has no politics but it has a political stand and it didn’t gain strength by siding with any political party. NSS members can contest in the local body election but they should not canvass votes in the name of NSS,” Nair said.
He said nobody should forget the timely contributions of NSS to society. “The NSS doesn’t have grudge against any political party. If a government does a wrong, NSS will point that out and if it does something right, the organisation will accept that,” he added.
