Ezhuthachan Puraskaram for Puthussery Ramachandran

THRISSUR: Noted poet and scholar Puthussery Ramachandran has bagged this year’s Ezhuthachan Puraskaram, the highest literary honour instituted by the government. The award, in recognition of the writer’s overall contribution to the literary field, carries a cheque of Rs 1.5 lakh, a citation and a plaque.

Puthusserym, a retired professor of Malayalam has provided the largest contribution to literature and language. He had taken the initiative in organising the first World Malayalam Conference in 1977 in Thiruvananthapuram. The Kendra Sahitya Akademi has recognised his contributions by giving him the national award for translation.
