After seeing the police the laborers fled the spot. Sand and several boats used for illegal sand-mining were seized by the officials. The boats were later destroyed using a JCB. The operation, which started at 8 a.m lasted till night and was led by Neyyattinkara DySP and other officials of the district administration were present.
