Nun committee suicide: Police

Thiruvananthapuram: The police are of the assumption that the Sister Mary Ancy, 45, was found dead Wednesday at the Holy Spiritual Centre, located near the famed tourist destination of Kovalam might have committee suicide. Police said they didn't find unusual till date on her death.

Police collected details from the doctor who was treating Ancy and she was under treatment for diabetes and skin disease. Police also collected the medicines she was taking. Police sources said Ancy was suffering from allergy and was not getting proper sleep for the past four days due to the ailment. She not went her home in the last one and half months.Kovalam police quizzed the more than 50 including the inmates in the center and employees.


People questioned so far were those with whom the victim used to interact, police said Thursday.According to police theories, either the nun slipped and fell into the tank or entered the tank with the aim of killing herself.


The preliminary autopsy report said the victim was conscious at the time of the drowning and also ruled out sexual assault on her.


Earlier the natives stated that as the slab of the tank was found displaced they smell suspicion. Also the nun wouldn't be able to remove the heavy slab all alone. It is also not easy to jump inside the tank through the gap. Natives also said that she was always a joyful person and wouldn't commit suicide.



Ancy was a schoolteacher at the school run by her convent for the past nearly two decades.
