People listening to voice of Hazare: Achuthanandan

T’PURAM: CPI-M veteran and Leader of the Opposition in Kerala Assembly V S Achuthanandan Saturday flayed the UPA Government for its handling of Anna Hazare's anti-graft movement and said the agitation has been taken over by the people. '

People are not looking at the persons behind the movement, but are listening to the voice of Hazare', the former chief minister told reporters here. People were supporting the cause for which the movement had been launched, he said.

Referring to the arrest and release of Hazare, who is on an indefinite fast in Delhi, Achuthanandan said the government arrested and put him in jail along with people who were "involved" in corruption. The Centre was forced to release him following people's anger', he said.

Hazare's movement was similar to the one launched by late socialist leader Jayaprakash Narayanan against the then Indira Gandhi Government, he said.
