Temple treasure: NSS hits out at Achuthanandan

Sunday, August 21, 2011: Nair Service Society (NSS) today lashed out at Opposition leader VS Achuthanandan for his controversial remarks against Travancore Royal family that the temple treasure was being smuggled from Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple by the members of the royal family.
Speaking to the reporters here on Sunday, NSS general secretary G Sukumaran Nair opined that VS shouldn’t had raised such allegations against His Highness Marthanda Varma, head of the erstwhile royal family of Travancore.

Opposition leader earlier opined that they were trying to spread rumors that evil would fall if the sealed ‘B’ vault was opened.
The revelation comes at a time when the Royal family moved the Supreme Court on Friday, seeking direction not to open vault B, as such a step would hurt the sentiments of many devotees.
The petition also requested not to allow video recording of the treasure trove found inside the other chambers of the temple. The plea pointed out that opening of the B cellar would affect the traditional temple rituals.
