Monday, August 01, 2011: The Thrissur Vigilance Court today sought an explanation from the state government regarding IG Tomin J Thachankary’s prosecution, who was recently reinstated into service.
The Court asked whether the government had got an official approval from the Centre to prosecute Thachankary and has asked the Govt to submit a report regarding the same on September 22.
The Court was hearing on a plea filed against reinstatement of Thachankary, who was placed under suspension for violating service rules by going abroad without consent from the previous government.
The government had decided to reinstate Thachankary since his suspension term had expired and the NIA had given a clean chit to him. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had also informed that Thachankary was reinstated into service as per the instructions of the Central government.
