Unnithan attack: Notification on CBI probe getting delayed

Kollam: Though the government has decided to hand over the Unnithan attack case from the crime branch to CBI, the notification regarding the same has not yet come. With delay in issuing a notification, further proceedings are also getting delayed.

It was after much pressure from all parties and KUWJ that the government decided to hand over the case to CBI on July 22. CBI would be able to take over the case only when the order comes as an official notification. The notification has to be received by the CBI director in Delhi and he had to transfer the probe to the CBI unit here. There were also demands to hand over the murder case of Happy Rajesh which is connected to the Unnithan attack.

The crime branch office, when they arrested the second and third accused, said that Rajesh was murdered inorder to cover up the Unnithan issue. But Penty and Vettukuttan who were later held in connection with Rajesh's murder case said that Rajesh was attacked due to a row over burning of Penty's car.
