Kizhakkambalam: A woman delivered in the toilet of her workplace and the new born baby was found dead. The woman, employed in a private organisation, was provided a lodge by the employer to stay. The woman who went to her room during duty hours did not return. When the women security officers checked the room, they found the new born baby in the toilet. When informed, the police shifted the woman to the Aluva government hospital.
The baby died due to failure in providing post-delivery treatment. Post-mortem was done at Alappuzha medical college hospital.
The woman hails from Vellathooval, Idukki and when questioned said a youth in her neighborhood had raped her and she became pregnant. She was keeping the matter secret.
The newborn's DNA examination was done as the police had information about the youth. A case has been charged against him for molestation and more probes are needed, police said.
