NEYYATTINKARA:
Bypolls to the Neyyattinkara assembly constituency Saturday recorded a
heavy turnout of over 80 per cent with LDF, UDF and BJP locked in a hard
battle.
The polling which started at 7 am in the morning ended in a peaceful manner. 71.06% polling was registered in the previous assembly polls. The heavy turnout this time has given hope to the two fronts. Voters standing in the queue were given chance to cast their vote even after the stipulated time.
Talking to reporters after casting their votes, LDF and UDF candidates advocate F Lawrence and R Selvaraj expressed hope in winning the polls.
No untoward incidents have been reported. The polling took place under heavy deployment of police in view of certain violent incidents that had occurred during the campaign.
