Finally, Smart City project turns into reality


Saturday, June 09, 2012: Putting curtains to all doubts over the implementation of the much awaited Smart City project, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Saturday inaugurated the Smart City pavilion, the first phase of the project.
Addressing the mediapersons, Chandy said that the project report for the basic infrastructure works of Smart city must be prepared and also added that an additional amount would be granted for seaport and airport roads. The board of directors also held a meeting in the new pavilion today.
The hi-tech pavilion is made of glass and steel pipes and the office of the Smart City will function from here till the work of the Smart City headquarters is completed.
The first phase of the project would be completed in 18 months, it is proposed. The pavilion would house offices of the marketing, administrative and project management teams of Smart City.
