Authorities neglecting man shot at in railway station, alleges wife

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Nazeema, wife of Manaf, who was accidentally shot by a constable of the railway protection force, alleged that the railway authorities are neglecting her husband, undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Manaf, native of Nandavanam and a clerk of Kerala University, was shot on Friday at 7 pm in the first platform where he and his wife Nazeema had arrived to reserve tickets. He received the shot in his stomach when Ishakkiyappan, the constable accidentally fired his weapon.

She said the railway authorities gave an amount of Rs 10,000 on the day of the incident. They didn’t even turn up at the hospital.  She told reporters that till yesterday the hospital bill has come upto Rs 1,20,000 and we don’t have the ability to pay the bill. The government has also neglected us. The interest shown by the RPF to save the official is not seen in our case, she said.
Meantime, RPF commander Joy said they are collecting money from railway officials for Manaf. We will not protect the guilty and Ishakkiyappan has been suspended after the incident.
