CPI accuses Kerala government of double standards

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Communist Party of India (CPI) in Kerala on Thursday accused the United Democratic Front (UDF) government of double standards in pursuing cases involving political personalities.

While the state police acted vigorously against the CPI (M) leader MM Mani in connection with his controversial speech, the charge against IUML MLA PK Basheer that he had made provocative speech was taken lightly by the law enforcers, CPI state secretary Panniayan Raveendran told a press meet.

The CPI would organise protest marches in Thiruvananthapuram and in taluk headquarters on August 10 against the "anti-people" policies of the central and state governments, he said.
