Moral policing: Main accused Faizal surrenders

KAYAMKULAM: Faizal, one of the two accused in a case relating to the incident in which a youth Vijith (18) was brutally manhandled in the name of moral policing near the Government Hospital at Kayamkulam on May 28, surrendered before the Kayamkulam First Class Judicial Magistrate Court on Thursday. The court later remanded Faizal for 14 days.

The police had earlier issued a lookout notice with personal details against Faizal and his friend Ashik, who went into hiding after the incident. The duo have been booked under several charges including murder attempt and assault.

Vijith was brutally attacked for allegedly staring at a `pardah’ clad girl inside the hospital and passing some comments. The attackers recorded the scene of attack and the cry of the boy on mobile and later circulated them on mobiles and internet. Following this, the police registered a suo motu case against the attackers.
