Govt cancels decision to shut down Malapparambu school

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Today’s Cabinet meeting has cancelled its decision to shut down the Kozhikode Malapparambu AUP school, which was demolished by its manager with the help of real estate lobby.

The chief minister told media that the government’s decision came in the backdrop of the public opinion that the school should be re-opened.

The school was demolished on the eve of the Lok Sabha polls at the behest of school’s manager and subsequently his brother was arrested.

The construction of new school building has started with the help of local residents.

The management had earlier approached the government seeking its closure. They had submitted that that the school with just 53 students was running on loss. Initially the government had taken a stand favourable to the management.
