Police man stabbed at Railway station

KOLLAM: Senior Civil police officer Abdul Salam, 50, who was on duty at Kollam Railway station, was stabbed on Friday with a knife. The injured police man was soon rushed to district hospital by other policemen who were also on duty at the station. He had sustained a deep injury on his back side.

The incident happened at 8 in the morning at Plat Form number 1.

 In connection with the incident the police have nabbed Vipinchandran, 35,   a native of Vettikavala. He is suspected to be a mentally deranged person. Even in custody Vipinchandran tried to create panic by shouting and behaving like a mad man.
The police also recovered the knife from him. He is being questioned by policemen under the instructions of SI Sanal kumar.  

It all happened when Vipinchandran was walking on the platform dragging a sack. The sack hit the body of a passenger standing nearby, which resulted in a heated argument between them. Seeing them quarrelling, Salam intervened to solve the issue. In the melee, Vipin took out his knife and stabbed the police man and at that time there were no trains on platforms.
