First phase work on Smart City begins

Saturday, October 8, 2011: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Saturday inaugurated the ground work for the Smart city Kochi project at Kakkanad.
Chandy said that the first phase work would be completed within 20 months. CEO of Tecom Investment Group Abdullatif Al Mulla, Ministers PK Kunhalikutty, K Babu, VK Ibrahim Kunju, Smart city managing director Dr Baju George, businessman MA Yousuf Ali, MLAs S Sarma, VP Sajeendran, KP Danapalan and others participated in the function.
The Mega IT park project envisages the development of 8.8 million square feet of built-up area for a string of IT and ITES units, with all required connectivity and allied facilities.
