KOLLAM: A shopping complex was burned down in the early hours of Monday in Nilamel junction, M C Road.Fousiya Shopping Centre and Fousiya Supermarket, which functions inside the complex, were burned down in the fire which, according to primary reports, was instigated by a short circuit.
The complex stands near to a petrol bunk and a huge disaster was averted as fire force reached in time to control the fire from spreading into the bunk in which there were tankers loaded with petrol.
Three motorbikes and a private bus which was parked in the petrol bunk was completely destroyed.
Those who spotted the fire at 3.30 am reported it to Chadayamangalam police station which in turn informed the fire force.
Eleven units of fire force reached the spot and brought the situation under control by 6.30 am.
