KOZHIKODE: CPM State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday visited the diocese of Thamarassery and held discussions with Bishop Mar Remigiose Inchananiyil. But, what transpired between the two is not yet known.
Persons close to the bishop said the talk centred around the tension that prevailed in the backdrop of Kasturirangan report. The bishop had criticised the report and warned of a serious bloodshed.
The CPM is against the report, though it has stood for protection of the Western Ghats. The party had also called for a ‘hartal’ to protest against the implementation of the report.
Ever since Pinarayi insulted former Thamarassery bishop Mar Paul Chittilapally, it is now that he is ‘befriending’ the diocese. The bishop had criticised the party for conducting the last rites of CPM leader Mathai Chacko. This was the reason for Pinarayi’s wrath, provoking him to call bishop a “contemptible person” . Later in his autobiography the bishop had said, “I am forgiving the CPM leader for his use of wrong words against me”.
