NEW DELHI: The Malayalam film industry has nothing to cheer when the national awards were announced here Tuesday. Malayalam films just grabbed five awards.
Ain, directed by Siddharth Siva bagged the national award for the best Malayalam film.Musthafa, who played Manu in the film, received jury’s special mention. Jayaraj’s Ottal was chosen as the best environmental film and Joshy Mangalath bagged the award for best script for the same film.
Gopi Sundar bagged the award for best background music for the film 1983. Vivek Harshan, bagged an award for editing for the film Jigar Thanda.
Joshy Joseph, a Keralite director obtained special award for the best short film in the non-feature section.
