THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Veteran Karnatic vocalist Parassala Ponnammal will be honoured with Lifetime Achievement award, instituted by Chennai Fine Arts on Monday. Prince Aswathi Thirunal will present the award at a function to be held at Theerthapadam mandapam at 6 pm.
Founded in 2003, Chennai Fine Arts has honoured many veterans like Dr T K Murthy, Prof T N Krishnan, R K Sreekantan and N Ramani. Last year the award was bestowed on Prof M S Anantharaman during the occasion of Maharaja Swati Thirunal’s Bicentenary celebration.
After the award ceremony, Ponnammal will give a brief concert . She will be accompanied by Vaikkom Padma Krishnan (Violin), Udupi Balakrishnan (Mridangam) and Thiruvananthapuram Rajesh (Ghatam).
The programme is open to the public.
