Mani files defamation case against Biju Ramesh

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance Minister K M Mani Wednesday filed a defamation case at the sub court in the capital city against bar association working president Biju Ramesh.

The plea has demanded a compensation of Rs 10 crores and also sought an apology after withdrawing the allegation. The plea was filed by Kerala Congress (M) leader Antony Raju for Mani. Biju had alleged that Mani received a bribe of Rs one crore to open the closed bars.

Meantime, Raju said a delay happened in filing the case as the amount to deposit in the court had to be found. Rs 10 lakhs has to be deposited in the court as fees for a compensation of 10 crores. A criminal case will also be filed against him, he said.

In the meanwhile, Biju said that he sticks to his claim.  They can file any case against me; I just want the truth to come out. If an investigation by the vigilance is not fruitful, will approach the court seeking an investigation by a central agency, he said.
